Construction on Winnipeg’s first Krispy Kreme location is steadily progressing. The iconic “hot light” sign has now been installed and will soon be illuminating Sterling Lyon Parkway. Winnipeg’s Krispy Kreme will be a brand new Hot Light Theatre Shop concept location.
What is Krispy Kreme?
Krispy Kreme is an American multinational doughnut company founded by Vernon Rudolph, who bought a yeast-raised recipe from a New Orleans chef. The first Krispy Kreme to open outside of the US was in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada in December 2001.
Though they’ve had a Canadian presence for over 20 years, this will mark the first Krispy Kreme location in Winnipeg. They currently have 7 locations in Ontario, 5 in Quebec, and one in British Columbia.

Krispy Kreme will be located at 465 Sterling Lyon Pkwy at the Seasons of Tuxedo, between IKEA and Outlet Collection Winnipeg.
What is a ‘Hot Light Theatre Shop’ Krispy Kreme location?
Winnipeg’s Krispy Kreme will be a Hot Light Theatre Shop. The new concept is essentially a doughnut shop, production facility, and a drive-thru. It will be similar to the stores you see in Mississauga, Greenfield Park, or Quebec City, but with a more modern and state-of-the-art twist.
The aesthetic of the store is a fun, clean, industrial baking space that allows guests to watch the fresh Original Glazed doughnuts coming down the production line. This will allow customers to eat donuts minutes after they are created!
What does the Krispy Kreme ‘Hot Light‘ Sign mean?
The iconic Hot Light means the location is currently making fresh, hot doughnuts in store! When the light is on, you can drop in to enjoy a hot Original Glazed doughnut fresh from the production line!
Will Krispy Kreme Winnipeg have a drive-thru?
Yes! Krispy Kreme’s first location in Winnipeg will have a drive-thru. The lanes have been installed and they will be long enough to support many vehicles.

An opening date for Winnipeg’s first Krispy Kreme location has yet to be announced. However, the building looks to be nearing completion, and we can expect a grand opening some time in Summer 2024.
