Disney Unveils First Trailer for Live-Action Moana Ahead of July 2026 Canadian Release

Disney has just unveiled the first trailer for its live-action adaptation of Moana, offering a sweeping, sun-kissed glimpse of the island of Motunui and the ocean that calls to its heroine.


The teaser introduces Catherine Lagaʻaia in the title role, singing the stirring line, “I am Moana,” while Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson returns as the shapeshifting demigod Maui. With lush cinematography and familiar motifs from the beloved animated original, the trailer teases a heartfelt reimagining rooted in Polynesian tradition and myth.

Set to hit Canadian theaters on July 10, 2026, the live-action Moana brings together a talented cast that also features John Tui as Chief Tui (Moana’s father), Frankie Adams as her mother Sina, and Rena Owen as her grandmother, Gramma Tala.
