There might be a few traffic jams to ring in the New Year. Northbound and southbound Pembina Highway between Jubilee Avenue and Stafford Street will be completely closed to traffic starting at 8:00pm on Friday, December 29 until 4:00am on Tuesday, January 2.
The closure is to install bridge girders as part of the Southwest Rapid Transitway (Stage 2) project. Construction will take place around-the-clock during this closure.
Roadway access for Transit and emergency vehicles will be maintained during the closure.
Pedestrian access will be maintained on the east sidewalk through the underpass. Cyclists may pass through the closure by dismounting and walking on the east sidewalk.
Motorists should allow additional time to get to their destinations, and use alternate routes such as Osborne Street, Waverley Street or Kenaston Boulevard.
