Born in the cool, dry air of prairie autumn, songwriter Heather Thomas’ introduction to folk music came at an early age. Diaphanie is a return to that beginning, channeling Thomas’ first influences – from Joni to John Prine – to tell the well-trodden stories of old through a new lens. From unrequited love to living in the inner city, Diaphanie draws new breath into the genre while remaining faithful to the folk tradition, never shying away from truth or beauty. Diaphanie is heading into the studio in June, followed by a busy summer including performances at the internationally acclaimed Winnipeg Jazz Festival, and indie darling Real Love Summer Fest.
