Eight musicians and two dancers bring to life a story of love, seen through the lens of one woman’s experience and poetry. One of Canada’s most revered female poets, Elizabeth Smart’s seminal work inspired musicians Matt Peters and Tom Keenan, of local band Heavy Bell, to adapt the poetic novel into a song cycle with all the joy and despair of love. Now, with dancers Carol-Ann Bohrn & Alexandra Garrido, those songs have been crafted into a dance and theatre performance of eloquence and beauty. Set to hauntingly beautiful music, through movements both literal and abstract representations of the lyrics, the words of Elizabeth Smart resonate with relevance and sensuality.
