The highly anticipated 10-acre Journey to Churchill Exhibit at Assiniboine Park Zoo will open to the public on Thursday, July 3, 2014.

The exhibit will feature expansive new habitats for polar bears, arctic foxes, muskox, snowy owls and seals. It will also feature an eight minute film experience inside Manitoba’s largest 360-degree theatre. There will be a lot of interactive elements in the exhibit plus an incredible underwater viewing tunnel that will showcase swimming polar bears!

“Journey to Churchill will open as the greatest northern species Zoo exhibit anywhere in the world” said Margaret Redmond, President & CEO of the Assiniboine Park Conservancy (APC).

The Assiniboine Park Zoo will be closed from June 23 – July 2, 2014 to full prepare for the opening date. The closure will allow for paint touch ups, landscaping, repair work, and will give the animals time to acclimatize to their new environments.

A large line up of visitors are expected during opening weekend. Visitors are encouraged to purchase their tickets at a new online sales window at assiniboineparkzoo.ca. The new online ticking system will go live on Monday, June 23.
