What is Black Friday? No, its not some Gothic cult or a racial monument. For those who don’t know, Black Friday is the BUSIEST shopping day of the year in the U.S.A. It happens annually the day after U.S. Thanksgiving (4th Thursday of November) This year Black Friday lands on November 28. I’ve never experienced it first hand, but from what I hear its madness – The American version of Boxing Day, times 10! $100 laptops is usually what causes all the buzz.
Family and friends of mine usually head down to Grand Forks and Fargo to get some Black Friday shopping done, especially last year. But with the dollar down, I can’t expect it to be as busy at the border as it was in 2007.
I never really understood why we do Boxing Day over a ‘Black Friday’ type event (Day after Remembrance Day?) People are more rich before Christmas, people want to shop before Christmas, and people would typically spend more money before Christmas.
I don’t know about you guys, but I’m usually dead broke and neck deep in debt on December 26. The LAST thing on my mind is lining up all night in -40 degree weather to pick up 1 of 3 50″ plasmas at 50% off.
