TOP 5 PIZZA SPOTS IN WINNIPEG

Pizza is definitely one of my favorite foods of all time, but did you know that pizza was originally a baker’s tool, a dough used to verify the temperature of the oven? A dish of the poor people, it was sold in the street and was not considered a kitchen recipe for a long time.

These are my personal favorites and in no way the ‘best’ pizza in Winnipeg. I’m sure I’ve missed a few… so be sure to tell us your faves in the comments. Ultimately, my favorite was the McDonald’s pizza, its too bad they don’t sell it anymore.

Hit the jump for my list.

5. Little Caesars
Their $5 hot and ready medium peperoni pizza is hard to beat. Sure this pizza is nothing gourmet, but it is perfect when you are just looking for a quick lunchtime pizza.

4. Flying Pizza
I love flying pizza. I often order from the one on Jefferson. An extra-large peperoni pizza is usually “10-dollar 10-minutes”. Flying pizza also sells pizza by the slice and open late. So after a late bar night when your craving a slice, you can get 2 peperoni for just $2.50. The flying pizza on Ellice also offers wedges and chicken which aren’t bad either!

3. Boston Pizza
Many people hit up Boston Pizza to either lounge it, or order something else from their extensive menu. But BP’s pizzas are often overlooked and under-rated. My personal favorite has to be the spicy pierogi pizza. If you’re looking for a place that has almost every topping you can think of, then Boston Pizza is where you want to be.

2. Santa Lucia Pizza
A local family-owned pizza joint that lives up to its reputation. Voted 2008’s Best Local Pizza Restaurant by Uptown Magazine, it definitely is one of the greatest gourmet pizzas I’ve ever had. The topping selection is limitless and is the best bang for your buck.

1. Pizza Hut
I’m a fan of the classics, and when ever you mention Pizza, Pizza Hut is the gorilla of them all. Pizza Hut offers a lunch buffet at many of its locations which include various pizzas, salad, bread sticks, pasta, and dessert. They also have a Monday special that I often take advantage of: one large one topping pizza for $10 + tax. Silver City Polo Park and St. Vital both have mini Pizza Hut kiosks so you can enjoy an individual sized pie during your movie.
