Tomorrow morning at Canwest Canad Inns Stadium, a press conference will be held. It should be to announce a new home for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at the University of Manitoba.
Some are concerned the estimated $138 million dollars is a waste. They believe no public money should be used to build this.
Others are happy to see their tax dollars going toward something they can use and appreciate.
I’m all for this as the existing stadium is scary. I’m not going to avoid it until the new one is built but it’ll do for now.
On top of this, the RT system will take people from downtown right to the new stadium. Being on the south end of the city it is also easily accessible by the Perimeter. Imagine … the traffic jams of St James will be improved greatly during events!
We’ll post some of the details from the conference tomorrow. In the meantime, all I can think of is, ‘if you build it, they will come’ (just think of all the concerts we got once the MTS Centre was built).
