Some amazing news has come down for soccer fans all across Canada! Zimbabwe has dropped out of the bidding for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup which leaves Canada to host the games.

Canada will also host the 2014 women’s under-20 championship as a test-run for the 2015 World Cup. The 16-team tournament is the single largest women’s sporting event in the world.

Unlike the Olympics, the games won’t just be in a specific city. Instead, it will be across the country. Games will be held in Vancouver, Montreal, Halifax, Ottawa, Edmonton, Moncton, and yes, Winnipeg!!

If you’re not familiar with the FIFA World Cup, it is a soccer tournament that takes place every 4 years. The 2011 women’s tournament will be held in Germany.
