Winnipeg Transit wants to finally get rid of the bus-fare boxes for a new way to pay for bus fare… using smart cards.
These smart cards have been out in other cities for a while now, but Winnipeg seemed to be lagging. The cards would be prepaid and swiped when entering a bus. This would supposedly reduce counterfeiting.
