Winnipeg Public Library branches, for the first time, will open for regular business hours on Monday, November 12. In past years, libraries may have been closed as a result of Remembrance Day falling on a Sunday. All Library branches will be closed on Remembrance Day itself, Sunday, November 11, 2012. Sir William Stephenson Library will be closed on Monday, per their regular schedule.
“This year, Remembrance Day falls on a Sunday for the first time since 2007. While we traditionally had been closed the next work day in this situation, by opening on November 12, we will avoid any confusion for Library users as most businesses and schools will also be open,” said Rick Walker, Manager of Library Services.
Walker said funding for these additional hours will come from existing budgets and that libraries will run with somewhat reduced staffing on November 12 depending on operational needs of each branch. [WINNIPEG.CA]
