Due to lingering snow and unseasonably cold temperatures this spring, the start-up of the seasonal yard waste collection program, originally scheduled as early as the first week of April, is delayed until Monday, April 29, 2013, weather permitting.
Yard waste will be collected at the curb once every two weeks, on the same collection day as recycling and garbage.
The city-wide curbside yard waste collection program began in October 2012, as part of a new waste minimization strategy designed to give residents more ways to reduce, reuse and recycle, and significantly reduce the amount of material that is landfilled.
Residents can find their yard waste collection dates by:
– checking the calendar that was delivered with the carts,
– contacting 311, open 24 hours every day, by phone at 311
– visiting the website at winnipeg.ca
– downloading the free My Waste app at winnipeg.ca/mywaste
