After a season-worst five-game losing streak, the Winnipeg Jets have fired Head Coach Claude Noel and assistant Perry Pearn.
General Manager Kevin Cheveldayoff first considered swinging that axe after the Jets game on Tuesday to the Tampa Bay Lightning, taking only 14 shots in a 4-2 loss – but he wasn’t ready quite yet.
The final nail in the coffin was when the Jets lost to the Columbus Blue Jackets 6-3 on Saturday. They gave up four goals in the first nine minutes of the second period and Winnipeg fans booed the team off the ice.
Paul Maurice has been hired as the interim Head Coach.
