Bylaw To Reduce Speed in School Zones

A new bylaw will be proposed on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 that will enforce speed limits of 30 km/h around 171 Winnipeg schools. These reduced speed limits would be in effect from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday during the months of September to June.

The zones will be created at streets that:

  • Borders a private or public school which includes grade six or lower
  • Not a regional street
  • Meets the requirements for signage set out in the Manitoba Reduced-Speed School Zones Regulation

You can view full list of the streets that would be impacted here.

If the proposed bylaw is approved, signage will be in place for the start of the 2014 – 2015 school year.
