Effective immediately, Future Shop has closed all stores across Canada. This includes the 3 locations in Winnipeg on St. James St, Pembina Hwy, and Leila Ave.
Future Shop was acquired by Best Buy Canada in 2001 for $580 million. Since then they have been operating side by side. The time has now come to consolidate both brands. It won’t be anything like the Target exodus and there isn’t going to be any liquidation sales. All of the products, services from Future Shop and FutureShop.ca will now be available at Best Buy and BestBuy.ca.
Best Buy will honor all unused Future Shop Gift Cards, Returns and Product Warranties.

- All outstanding orders placed on futureshop.ca will be fulfilled
- Customers can still access their online order details through futureshop.ca
- Any previously scheduled home deliveries will continue as planned
- If you made an order online that was supposed to be shipped to a store, they’ll contact you directly by phone once the item is ready to make arrangements
- If you made a pre-order for an item, they’ll contact you directly by phone once the item is ready to make arrangements
- Best Buy will be happy to accept returns and exchanges for Future Shop orders as governed by the identical policies
- You can use Future Shop gift cards in-store or online at BestBuy.ca or any Best Buy store in Canada
- Best Buy will honour Future Shop and Geek Squad protection plans in full at any Best Buy store in Canada
