Crown Royal will be the first spirits brand to include nutrient information, such as calorie content, on its packaging.

Information includes alcohol content, number of calories, carbohydrates, protein and fat per serving.

Crown Royal’s parent company, Diageo, is the world’s largest spirits company. Their brands include Smirnoff, Tanqueray, Guinness and Johnnie Walker.

The packing update is a result of the European Commission’s decission to make nutritional labeling on alcoholic drinks mandatory by 2016.
