A school zone in the Tuxedo area is back up to 50 km/h after several complaints from residents and motorists.
Wellington Crescent near Gray Academy of Jewish Education was previously 30 km/h, but as of October 1, the 30 km/h speed limit signs have been removed.
Tuxedo area councillor Marty Morantz said the change was due to numerous complaints by motorists in the area and that it didn’t make sense for the community.
The school agreed with the change and the city amended the bylaw.
1,300 tickets were issued in that area when the speed limit was 30 km/hr. Anyone who received a ticket will still have to pay as it was the law at the time.
