Manitobans will not have to pay PST once marijuana is legal.
The province has decided to exempt recreational marijuana from provincial sales tax. The policy is expected to help promote the legal market by keeping prices low.
Though it will be exempt from PST, it will still be subject to other levies in Manitoba. The newest fee is a social responsibility fee which is six percent of the retailer’s revenue. The fee will pay for public education, safety, enforcement and addictions programs.
