7-Eleven's Bring Your Own Cup Day Returns May 17 and 18, 2019

7-Eleven’s legendary Bring Your Own Cup Day will return on May 17 and 18, 2019!

Bring your own container to any 7-Eleven in Canada and you can fill it up with Slurpee for only $2!

Weird and wonderful containers are encouraged! In previous years, we saw teapots, rice cookers, fish bowls, plant pots and more!

Before you go searching the largest container you can find, here are a few rules:

  • Slurpee Cup must fit inside the magic measuring hole/device displayed in store.
  • Container used for this contest must fit within a 26 cm diameter’. Cups when full must fit within a specific size limit: 26cm wide x 26cm high.
  • Container must be able to withhold liquids.
  • Cups must be hygienic, clean, watertight (no drips or leaks allowed), and fixed in size and shapes (no inflatables).
  • One container per customer per day. No refills allowed.
  • Container must be food safe clean of any contaminants.
  • Individual Stores and its staff have the right to restrict containers should there be any deemed Food Safety issues, or matters such as cleanliness, impacted health regulations, type of cup, or size of cup.

So exactly how much Slurpee can you get in a 26cm tall and 26cm diameter cup? To solve that question, we dug up our high-school math books visited Wikihow.

To calculate the volume of a cylinder, all you have to do is find the height (h), and the radius (r), and plug it in to a simple formula: V = hπr2.

The volume of a 26cm cup is 13809.71 Cubic Centimeters. 1 Cubic Centimeter = 0.0338140227 Fluid Ounces. So if you were to find a perfect 26x26cm cylinder/cup that satisfies all the rules above, you’ll have a 466.97oz Slurpee – or 13 litres!

If you can’t find a 13 litre cup, then a 4L milk jug works as well. The weather is warming up… Let’s celebrate in the most Winnipeg way possible and enjoy a boat load (you can literally fill up a toy boat) of Slurpee!
