Canada Day at Assiniboine Park
Unfortunately, there wont’ be fireworks at Assiniboine Park again this year, but they’ll have plenty of family-friendly activities during the day.
Festivities at the Lyric Theatre | 11:00 am – 5:30 pm
- 11:00 a.m. | Welcome to Treaty 1 & Citizenship Ceremony
- 12:00 p.m. | Canada Day Anthem and Greetings
- 12:30 p.m. | Jet Stream – Royal Canadian Air Force Band
- 1:30 p.m. | Robin Chestnut – Juggler
- 2:30 p.m. | Folklorama – Rockalypso Caribbean Band
- 3:30 p.m. | Johnny Cajun
- 4:30 p.m. | Dust Rhinos
Family Fun at the Lyric Field | 11:00 am – 5:30 pm

- Motion zone obstacle course
- Giant inflatable water slide
- Human foosball
- Face painting
Information and activity stations include a Parks Canada selfie station and a birds of prey exhibit hosted by the Prairie Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. A variety of food trucks will also be on site!
Beer Gardens at The Pavilion | 11:00 am – 6:30 pm
On Canada Day, the iconic outdoor patio at The Pavilion will be transformed into a beer garden. Enjoy beautiful views of the Park while enjoying a cold beverage and a bite to eat.
Take a Virtual Tour of the Leaf | 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Stop by the atrium at The Pavilion and learn about The Leaf and Diversity Gardens currently under construction in the south-east corner of the Park.
The Park Café
The Park Café is located in the Qualico Family Centre next to the duck pond. On Canada Day, the restaurant and licensed patio will be open 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. The take-out window will be open until 8:00 pm serving ice cream, French fries, lemonade and other tasty treats.
Assiniboine Park Zoo | 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Spend Canada Day at the Zoo! Admission for youth, adults and seniors is $14 and children under the age of five are FREE!
Park n’ Ride | 10:30 am – 6:00 pm
On Canada Day, parking inside the Park can be hard to find! Please consider using alternate transportation options or take advantage of our FREE Park n’ Ride service from the Canadian Mennonite University (500 Shaftesbury Blvd.).
