Just one week after announcing a PST cut to 6% on July 1, the Pallister Government is forced to postpone the decrease due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It would have been the second consecutive year that Mantiobans see a PST drop. The province will now need to borrow up to $5 billion just to get through the next year. The province’s rainy day fund, which sits at $872 million, could be wiped out in three months or less.
To note, the Pallister Government is not cancelling the PST cut, but only postponing to, at latest, next year.
