School Zone Speed Limits Not Being Enforced During COVID-19 School Closures

Published

Winnipeg Police will not be enforcing School Zone speed limits while schools are closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speed limits at school zones are reduced to 30 km/h during the months of September to June inclusive, between the hours of 07:00 and 17:30, Monday to Friday.

Due to the current social distancing recommendation, it’s highly unlikely that children will be playing in school zones while families are in self-isolation.

The WPS’s photo enforcement contractor has also been instructed not to conduct regular enforcement at reduced speed school zones.

Regular photo enforcement at other streets will continue.
