WestJet Removes Some Cancellation Fees Due to COVID-19 Concerns

Do you have a flight coming up that you’re not sure you want take? WestJet has temporarily removed some cancellation and change fees due to COVID-19 (coronavirus) concerns.


For New Bookings: All new flight bookings made between March 5 and March 31, 2020 will be allowed a one-time change fee waiver. The one-time change fee waiver is available for any itinerary change made more than 14 days from departure.

For Existing Bookings:

  • If you booked a Basic fare before March 3 for travel in March, you will now be eligible to change or cancel your flight for the same fees as the Econo fare.
  • If you booked a Basic fare after March 3rd for travel in March and your flight is less than 14 days away, you can change or cancel your flight for the same fees as the Econo fare.
  • If you booked a Basic fare after March 3rd for travel in March and your flight is more than 14 days away you can change your flight one time for no fee.
