Shake Shack, a New York-based fast food chain, has announced that its coming to Canada in 2024.

The expansion is being funded by Toronto-based private investment firms Osmington Inc. and Harlo Entertainment Inc. They plan to open 35 Shake Shack locations in Canada by 2035. The first location will open in Toronto in 2024.

Shake Shack is most famous for their ShackBurger which is an Angus beef cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, and ShackSauce on a toasted potato bun.

Rumours of Shake Shack opening a location in Winnipeg has been circulating for quite sometime. When Winnipeggers discovered that Krispy Kreme would be opening a location at the Seasons of Tuxedo, it was almost certain that more major US-chains would follow.

For those who aren’t familiar with Shake Shack, it’s a fast-food chain that specializes in burgers, hot dogs, fries, and milkshakes. Founded in 2004 in New York City, the brand has since expanded to over 300 locations worldwide, including cities such as Manila, London, Tokyo, and Dubai.

Winnipeg is known for its vibrant culinary scene, with a diverse range of restaurants, cafes, and food trucks offering a wide variety of cuisine. The addition of a Shake Shack to the city would undoubtedly be a significant boost to the city’s food culture.

At this point, there has been no official confirmation from Shake Shack about plans to open a location in Winnipeg. However, with 35 locations opening in Canada by 2035, you can be sure that Winnipeg is on top of that list. If Shake Shack were to open a location in Winnipeg, it would likely be in a high-traffic area, such as the Seasons of Tuxedo or the expansion site north of CF Polo Park.
