Take those thoughts you have in your head right now and throw them out the window. The SlutWalk is not what you think it is.
On October 15, 2011, women from all around Winnipeg will do the SlutWalk, which protests blaming victims of sexual violence for the violence perpetrated against them. No one is responsible for violence against them, no matter what they wear, who they are, or who they are associated with.
The SlutWalk’s began after Toronto police proclaimed that, “women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized”. And that is precisely what this is about.
You might remember Winnipeg’s Justice Robert Dewar letting an attacker go free because the victims attire suggested that “sex was in the air.”
