Tourism Week takes place in Winnipeg from May 28 to June 3, 2017. Here are the various events taking place:
- Photo Walk at The Forks
Tuesday, May 30 – 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Tourism Winnnipeg will host a photo walk though The Forks for 20 lucky photographers. The resulting images posted on Instagram will be tagged #onlyinthepeg and #findmeattheforks. - Bring It Home – Winnipeg Free Press Wrap
Wednesday, May 31
In partnership with the RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg, a four-page special section showcasing Tourism Winnipeg’s Bring It Home program will “wrap” around the outside of the Winnipeg Free Press. - Social Media Mixer
Friday, June 2 – 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
A first of its kind for Winnnipeg, this mixer gives social media professionals connected to the local tourism industry the chance to network with each other about local activities and attractions. - Mascot Invasion
Friday, June 2 – 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Tourism Winnipeg staff and a dozen local mascots will greet arriving passengers at the airport and hand out Frisbees. - Young Ambassadors Day

Global News will air a segment on Brock Corydon School’s Grade 5 class that highlights the students’ efforts to identify and thank local game-changers. - 2017 Winnipeg Tourism Awards of Distinction
Tuesday, June 6 – 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The sixth annual Winnipeg Tourism Awards of Distinction celebrate the people, places, organizations and events that have gone above and beyond to create superior tourism experiences for Winnipeg guests. This year’s event will be held in the grand ballroom at the Fort Garry Hotel. Key guests include Mayor Brian Bowman and the always entertaining Ace Burpee (who will serve as emcee). In addition to announcing the winners within seven competitive categories, Ace will also present awards to Claudette Leclerc, Sherraine Christopherson, Sachit Mehra and the RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg to honour their unique contributions to the local tourism industry.
