The 2022 Municipal Council and School Boards Election will take place on October 26 with advance voting from October 3 -21.
To make sure things run smoothly, the City of Winnipeg will be hiring an estimated 2,000 temporary workers. There are several different positions available. Responsibilities range from greeting and assisting voters, to operating automated voting machines. Positions include:
Senior Voting Officer
- Acts in a supervisory capacity by overseeing the voting place
- Monitors voting procedures
- Assists with problem solving
- Contacts Election Headquarters when necessary
- Oversees setup and closing of the location
Voting Place Clerk
- Acts in a relief capacity for other Election Officers at the location
- Provides assistance to voters entering the voting place
- Confirms voter identity
- Assists with setup and closing of the location
Voting Record Officer
- Confirms voter identity
- Issues the ballot
- Assists with the ballot count after the close of voting
- Assists with setup and closing of the location
Clerk for Oaths
- Confirms voter identity
- Administers oaths to voters who require one prior to the issuance of a ballot
- Assists with setup and closing of the location
Voting Machine Clerk
- Must possess a valid driver’s licence and a reliable vehicle
- Responsible for operating the automated voting machine and processing ballots
- Delivers the memory pack to election headquarters at City Hall within 40 minutes of the close of voting
- Assists with setup and closing of the location
Location Clerk
- Greets voters
- Directs voter traffic at the entry of the voting place
- Ensures routine sanitization of work stations as necessary
- Assists with setup and closing of the location
Safety Officer
- Greets voters
- Directs voter traffic at the voting place as needed
- Assists with setup and closing of the location
You must be over the age of 18 and eligible to work in Canada to apply. Several bilingual-only positions are also available.
