TWILIGHT DANCERS (Paola Marino, Theola Ross, 2017, 16 min)
Youthful leadership shines brightly in Pimicikamak Cree Nation, where young people use square dancing to help heal the wounds left by suicides in their community.
OUR PEOPLE WILL BE HEALED (Alanis Obomsawin, 2017, 1hr, 37min)
Alanis Obomsawin’s 50th film reveals how a Cree community in Manitoba has been enriched through the power of education. The Helen Betty Osborne Ininiw Education Resource Centre in Norway House receives a level of funding that few other Indigenous institutions enjoy. Its teachers help their students to develop their abilities and their sense of pride.
Filmmaker Theola Ross and members of the Twilight Dancers will be in attendance. Reception starts at 6, films at 7.
