Sunset over Lake Crabtree Originally uploaded by _mpd_
A buoy retrieval team set out Monday to recover bouys before colder temps sunk in. The 3 man team had issues with the boat’s water pump and had to shut it off. Drifting for nearly 13 hours, the weather picked up and their boat was apparently hit with several swells as high as three meters. The boat capsized and the men were thrown into the water as the boat sank. None of them were wearing life jackets.
Two of the men made it to shore using a small safety boat. The captain is currently missing. Search teams are still looking.
