Downtown BIZ is challenging Winnipeggers to assemble again for Winnipeg’s 2nd Annual Canada Day Living Flag. Last year, over 3,400 people (photoed above) showed their national pride on Canada Day 2011 by standing shoulder to shoulder to form Canada’s biggest-ever Living Flag in front of the Manitoba Legislative Building, smashing Victoria, BC’s 2010 Living Flag record of 2100 people.

This year Downtown BIZ is hoping to get 5,000 participants to beat the record once again. Let’s show Canada that Winnipeg is the city to beat!

Where: Manitoba Legislative Grounds (in front of Legislative Building)
When: Sunday, July 1st from 9:30-12:00pm
* 9:30am – 11am: T-shirt distribution (first come, first serve) and entertainment
* 11:15am – 12pm: Form the flag and pose for the photo
Host: Hot 103’s Lloyd the Intern

There will be 4,000 t-shirts available, however, participants are encouraged to wear either red or white to accommodate the whole flag.

Walk-ups are welcome but people are asked to register to also be entered to win various prizes. You can register at http://www.downtownwinnipegbiz.com/home/events/living_flag/.

So grab your favourite red or white shirt and head down to the Leg on Canada Day to be part of another awesome photo. [LIVING FLAG]
