Did you notice your cellphone not working on Wednesday? Well you weren’t alone. Rogers and Fido experience a nation-wide outage that brought hundreds of thousands of Canadians back to the 20th century and hash tagging #firstworldproblems. Both voice and SMS services were down for the majority of the evening.
Rogers CEO Nadir Mohamed apologized to customers for the “unacceptable” outage:
[quote]I recognize this service interruption was unacceptable for our customers. We worked as quickly as possible to restore service and it was gradually restored over the course of the evening. I sincerely apologize to all of our customers for this significant inconvenience and appreciate their understanding and patience.[endquote]
Due to the outage, Rogers and Fido will be providing all postpaid wireless customers with one day of service credit on their next bill.
