Agassiz Ski Hill in Riding Mountain National Park (McCreary, MB), which has been closed since Spring 2000, might see some life again by the end of 2014.

The Agassiz Mountain Development Group has put in a proposal to Parks Canada to get the Alpine Snowsport Resort running again, and its looking pretty good!

Currently, Manitoba has six ski resorts:

  • Asessippi
  • Falcon Trails Resort
  • Holiday Mountain Resort
  • Mystery Mountain
  • Springhill Winter Sports Park
  • Stony Mountain

In October 2013, the group took its first step towards the redevelopment of the former Mount Agassiz Ski Area. During it’s 40 year history, Mount Agassiz was a major driver in tourism and recreation in the region.

Riding Mountain National Park is approximately a 3 hour drive from Winnipeg. [CJOB]
