When travelling, there are only a few necessities you need to have a great time… your passport, money… and a GoPro camera.

We made a GoPro purchase a few years ago – and it was one of the greatest investments we ever made. Its the ultimate travel companion. Its a rugged, ultra-wide angled camera that was built for adventure. Even with the waterproof and dustproof case on, it’s so small that you can take it literally anywhere.

GoPro has announced that it will make the HERO4 camera available on Sunday, October 5, 2014. Our problem with our GoPro HERO3 Black is that it always had problems in low-light conditions. We’re happy to see that GoPro has addressed these issues with the HERO4.

There will be 3 new models:

GoPro HERO4 Black:
The focus of GoPro’s high end model this year will be 4k video resolution. The Black edition will capture stunning 4K video at 30 frames per second. The GoPro HERO3 Black was able to capture 4k as well, but at only 15fps.

Supported resolutions: 4K at 30fps, 2.7K at 50fps, 1440p at 80fps, 1080p at 120fps, 960p at 120fps, and 720p at 120fps.

GoPro HERO4 Silver:
Those who don’t care for 4K video will want to get the Silver, simply because it now offers a built-in touch screen that lets you ‘preview’ your footage. The Black edition will not have this feature (trade off for having 30fps 4k)

Supported resolutions: 4K at 15fps, 2.7K at 30fps, 1440p at 48fps, 1080p at 60fps, 960p at 100fps, and 720p at 120fps.

GoPro HERO:
Not everyone has $400+ to spend on a camera – which is why GoPro has introduced the budget-friendly GoPro HERO. They want everyone to have a GoPro in their hand when travelling!

Supported resolutions: 1080p at 30fps and 720p at 60fps
