It’s flu season and it’s time to get your free shot.
Last flu season, 22 per cent of Manitobans got the flu vaccine but studies showed that it was ineffective. Dr. Michael Routledge said that the 2014 virus strain mutated which allowed a lot of people to contract it even after vaccination. He stated that this typically doesn’t happen and that they haven’t seen a change in this years virus strain.
This seasons flu shot will have some extra power in it. It will protect you from four strains on influenza instead of three.
Previous shots protect you against three flu strains: two Influenza A and an influenza B. This years will have a second B virus.
