PHOTO: True North Square Site Plan

Here’s a photo of the site plan for True North Square. The four new towers will be anchored by a luxory hotel, a Liquor Mart Megastore, Scotiabank and the Thompson Dorfman Sweatman law firm.

Tower 1 (Scotiabank Tower at True North Square)

Scotiabank’s prairie head office will be moved into the main tower at 242 Hargrave Street. It will be formerly known as “Scotiabank Tower at True North Square”. The location at Portage and Main will remain open.

The Thompson Dorfman Sweatman law firm will take the top three floors of that tower.

Constructions is exepcted to be completed by July 2018.

Tower 2

Tower Two will be “a 24 storey architectural icon” at the northwest corner of Graham and Carlton and house various retail operations.

It will feature 200,000 square feet of plaza, a second floor restaurant and retail space, boutique offices, and top floor residences with exclusive roof top amenities.

One of the retailers will be a flagship 50,000 square foot Liquor Mart megastore. Currently, the biggest Liquor Mart in Winnipeg is at Grant Park Shopping Centre at 15,500 square feet. So this location will be more than 3 times larger.

Constructions is exepcted to be completed by early 2019.

Towers 3 and 4 (Sutton Place)

The five-star luxory Sutton Place Hotel will take up the two towers at 220 Carleton Street.

One of the towers will have 27 storeys of hotel space with 275 hotel rooms, the other will have 130 residential units.

The hotel will feature a roof-top garden and a restaurant on the ground flood. It will also have an indoor pool, whirlpool, fitness centre, spa and conference facilities.

Public Plaza

A public plaza and parkway will be built along Carlton that is expected to be a major gathering place in downtown Winnipeg (think pre-game Jets parties!)

The plaza will be a two-acre outdoor space nestled in between the towers. Some of the options for the plaza include outdoor concerts, movies, beach volleyball and a food truck festival in the summer.

In the winter, you could go skating, curling, take a drink at the ice bar, or explore the Christmas Village.

It will be similar to major public plazas that already exist in other cities.

The plaza is expected to open in 2018.
