The NewLeaf Travel Company, which specializes in cheap discount flights, has added a new non-stop flight from Winnipeg to Edmonton. The flight will cost $99 with all fees and taxes included.
Your fare gets you the two essentials: a seat and a seatbelt. The rest is up to you. Ultra low cost means you pay extra for printing a boarding pass, carry-on luggage or drinks. A carry-on luggage will cost you $25.
The new Winnipeg to Edmonton route will run on Thursdays and Sundays beginning August 21, 2016.
To put it in perspective, a road trip from Winnipeg to Edmonton is 1,305km one-way. At $1 litre, you’re looking at $77 to drive to Edmonton vs $99 to fly.
However, make sure to factor in cost savings for car pooling (multiple people splitting the gas bill). Also, if you drive to Edmonton, you won’t have to rent a car when you get there.
