The City is celebrating International Compost Awareness Week with a compost giveaway on Sunday, May 6, 2018.

“The City’s compost program has been a real environmental success story. With the support of residents, we’ve been able to increase the amount of yard waste recovered and produce high quality compost,” said Councillor Brian Mayes, Chair of the Standing Policy Committee on Water and Waste, Riverbank Management and the Environment. “I encourage Winnipeg residents to visit a 4R Depot this Sunday and pick up some free compost. It’s also a great opportunity to see how convenient the 4R Depots are for dropping off materials that can be recycled, reused, composted or resold.”

Residents can take home up to 100 litres of compost per vehicle which can be use for their lawns, gardens and plants. The compost can be picked up at one of the three 4R depots from 9:00am to 4:00pm, while quantities last.
