Canada Day at Assiniboine Park

Head to Assiniboine Park for an afternoon of family-friendly fun that includes entertainment at the Lyric Theatre, a citizenship ceremony, bouncy castles, food trucks, face painting and more!


Festivities at the Lyric Theatre | 11:00 am to 5:00 pm

  • 11:00 am – 12:00 pm | National Historic Event Designation Ceremony
  • 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm | Citizenship Ceremony
  • 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm | Al Simmons
  • 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm | Folklorama Programming
    • Clyde Heerah and the Paradize Band
    • Drum Café – African drumming & dancing (Jay Stoller)
    • Latin Fusion Band

Pop-Up Patio at the Pavilion | 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm

On Canada Day, the iconic outdoor terrace at The Pavilion will be transformed into a Pop-Up Patio. Enjoy beautiful views of the Park, quench your thirst with a cool beverage, and satisfy your hunger with a selection from our patio menu. The Pop-Up Patio will also be open every Thursday evening in July and August.

Assiniboine Park Zoo | 9:00 am to 8:00 pm

There is so much to see and do at the Zoo! On Canada Day, the Assiniboine Park Zoo will stay open until 8:00 pm.

Park and Ride | 11:00 am to 6:00 pm

On Canada Day, parking inside the Park can be hard to find! Please consider using alternate transportation or take advantage of our FREE Park and Ride service from the Central Mennonite University (500 Shaftesbury Blvd.).

NOTE: There are no evening fireworks at Assiniboine Park this year.
