The new Women’s Hospital on 665 William Avenue has finally opened its doors after a decade of delays.
It was originally set to open in 2007 but construction didn’t finish until 2014. Due to construction problems, the opening was delayed.
The new hospital is a 250,000 sqft, five-storey, 173-bed hospital facility and replaces the existing Women’s hospital on 735 Notre Dame Ave that was built in the 1950s.
The Family Birthing Place includes a state-of-the-art 16-bed labour and delivery unit, and a 60-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. It will also have a private space for oncology and palliative care patients.
