The City of Winnipeg owned golf courses has seen its busiest season in 15 years.

Thought 2020 started with uncertainty, one thing is now certain, Winnipeg loves golf! Crescent Drive, Kildonan Park, and Windsor Park have all seen a significant increase in golf rounds played this year.

The largest jump was at Crescent Drive, which was up up 44% with an additional 10,000 rounds were played compared to 2019. Windsor Park saw a 23% increase with an additional 7,000 rounds. Kildonan Park was up 18 percent, with an additional 6,000 rounds.

Kildonan Park, which is the city’s busiest course, will finish the 2020 season with approximately 35,000 total rounds!

The surge in rounds is attributed to the lack of rain this season, as well as COVID-19. With it’s natural ‘social distance’ aspect, golf is a safe recreational option, especially with many Winnipeggers staying home and not travelling.

The last day for the season at Crescent Drive was October 14. Kildonan Park and Windsor Park will have their last rounds of the season on October 18.
