The City of Winnipeg has announced that it is reopening a number of fitness facilities that were previously closed due to COVID-19. The re-opening leads to the recall of approximately 75 temporary, part-time employees who were previously laid off. Pools and arenas remain closed until further notice.


The following recreation and leisure facilities will re-open starting March 8, 2021 for limited fitness service only:

  • Chief Peguis Fitness Centre
  • Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex
  • Elmwood Kildonans Pool
  • Fort Rouge Leisure Centre
  • Freight House Recreation Centre
  • Kinsmen Sherbook Pool
  • Pan Am Pool
  • Sergeant Tommy Prince Place
  • St. James Assiniboia Centennial Pool

Walk-ins are available… however, due to capacity restrictions, you are encouraged to book fitness blocks prior to arriving. There is no guarantee of available blocks for registration upon arrival.


Reservations can be made up to 30 minutes in advance of the pre-reserved time (space permitting). Fitness blocks for the week will be made available every Thursday. No group activities will be available.

Remember: Capacity is limited to ensure physical distancing guidelines are maintained. Make sure to maintain a distance of at least two metres. Fitness areas will be closed to the public for 30 minutes between the two-hour blocks to sanitize and allow for reasonable time for public to vacate the facility prior to the next scheduled block. Come dressed to use the fitness amenities, as the changerooms will not be open.
