Have a gift card sitting around that you don’t think you’ll use? Kildonan Place is giving Winnipeg shoppers a chance to turn it into something they can use during a special one-day Gift Card Swap.
The Kildonan Place Gift Card Swap takes place on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, giving eligible participants the opportunity to exchange an unwanted gift card for a Kildonan Place Gift Card of the same value.
How the Kildonan Place Gift Card Swap Works
The process is simple. Participants can visit Kildonan Place Guest Services on August 26 and present an eligible physical gift card for exchange.
Guest Services will verify the balance on the gift card, and once the amount has been successfully validated, Kildonan Place will provide a Kildonan Place Gift Card for the matching amount.
There is a minimum exchange value of $10 and a maximum exchange value of $200 per person. Only one gift card can be exchanged per person.
One interesting part of the promotion is that traded-in gift card balances will be rounded up to the nearest dollar. For example, a gift card with a verified balance of $34.14 would be exchanged for a $35 Kildonan Place Gift Card.
When Is the Gift Card Swap?
The Kildonan Place Gift Card Swap takes place on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The promotion is only available for one day and will also end once the limited supply of Kildonan Place Gift Cards has been reached.
Which Gift Cards Can Be Exchanged?
There are several restrictions on the gift cards that can be traded in. The card must be from a retail store or business that is currently operating in Winnipeg and is not under receivership.
The gift card must also be a physical gift card. Online gift cards, vouchers and coupons are not accepted. Prepaid Visa and Mastercard cards, as well as paper gift certificates, are also excluded.
Promotional gift cards that have expiration dates or minimum-spend requirements are not eligible for the swap.
The balance must be able to be validated at the time of the exchange. Kildonan Place says validation can be completed by contacting the card issuer by phone or through its website. A paper receipt showing the current balance will not qualify as verification.
If the balance cannot be validated at the time of the exchange, the gift card cannot be accepted.
Gift Cards Will Be Donated to United Way Winnipeg
The Gift Card Swap also has a charitable component. All gift cards traded in during the promotion will be donated to United Way Winnipeg.
This means shoppers can turn an unwanted gift card into something useful for themselves while also helping support the community through the donated cards.
