The Boston Red Sox have won the 2013 World Series, which was the 109th edition of Major League Baseball’s championship series. They won the best-of-seven competition 4-2 against the National League champion St. Louis Cardinals.
This was the fourth meeting of the Cardinals and Red Sox in the World Series (previously meeting in 1946, 1967, and 2004). The win marks the first time since 1918 that the Red Sox has won the World Series championship at their home field of Fenway Park.
