The FAA (US Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration) has finally approved airlines to allow passenger to use personal electronics from gate to gate. There will be no need to turn off your phone or tablet during take off or landing if you’re in the middle of a game of Candy Crush. Larger devices, such as laptops, will still have to be stowed.

Remember, this is a FAA ruling so it’s for US flights only. CATSA (Canadian Air Transport Security Authority) will most likely follow suit to big brother.

The FAA still recommends you keep your phone in airplane mode during flight. But as everyone knows, there is absolutely no safety concern if you don’t. At 40,000 feet, you’ll just drain your battery while it constantly tries to acquire a signal and land with a dead phone. [GIZMODO]
