The City of Winnipeg is set to increase water and sewer rates to pay for improvements to the North End Sewage Treatment Plant.
Rates will go up every year for the next four years:
- March 1, 2020:
Water Rate increase to $1.86 per cubic metre (from $1.82)
Sewer Rate increase to $2.81 per cubic metre (from $2.80) - January 1, 2021:
Water Rate increase to $1.90
Sewer Rate increase to $2.86 - January 1, 2022:
Water Rate increase to $1.95
Sewer Rate increase to $2.91 - January 1, 2023:
Water Rate increase to $2.00
Sewer Rate increase to $2.96
The average resident will pay around $33 more in 2020, $35 more in 2021, $34 more in 2022, and $36 in 2023.
The North End Sewage Treatment Plant upgrades are expected to cost $1.8 billion.
