Winnipeger Clara Hughes, the only woman in the planet to win medals in both the Winter and Summer Olympics, won a Bronze medal yesterday in the 5,000 metres long-track.

At the age of 37, she doesn’t mind being beaten by a 23-year-old from the Czech Republic and a 21-year-old German. “If you’ve been beaten by a better skater you’ve been beaten. But I didn’t do too bad for an old lady.” Clara explained.

Clara has now matched fellow Winnipegger Cindy Klassen’s Canadian Olympic record of six medals. Cindy Klassen finished 12th in the race.

Congratulations Clara!
