The province has increased various fines for selling alcohol to, or buying alcohol for, minors under the age of 18.

Any person caught providing alcohol to minors will be fined $2,000 (raised from $1,260.30). Any corporation caught will be fined $5,000.

Also, any minor caught using a fake id will be fined $655.65 – drastically raised from $292.65.

Bars, licensed restaurants, socials, caught providing minors with alcohol will be fined $655.65 -also drastically raised from $292.65.

This is a big step Manitoba is taking to combat under-aged drinking. According to a survey, 36% of Manitoba youths have engadged in under-aged drinking.

These new fines are now the highest in Canada.
