Despite their threat to pull all taxi’s off the road by Monday at 11pm, Unicity and Duffys taxicabs continue to remain in operation today.

Tuesday was a deadline to have mandatory protective plastic shields in all cabs. Since the deadline could not be met, Unicity and Duffys decided to send a message to have all taxi’s park their vehicles in protest.

The Minister of Transportation intervened and allowed cabs without shields to temporarily continue operation today. Negotiations continue between the taxi board and cab companies over where the costs of these shields will come from.
