Shoppers anxiously waiting for their online orders to be delivered can breathe a sigh of relief. A Canada Post strike has been averted for now.

Canada Post workers threatened to walk off the job on Wednesday, but the union has received some positive news to temporarily avert a strike. It would have been the first strike since 1997. No agreement has been made yet, but hopefully this is a good sign.

In the event of a strike, mail and parcels will not be delivered to any homes. However, Canada Post will continue to deliver unemployment and welfare cheques, pensions and other social-assistance cheques.

Remember, with strike news still in the air – you’re best bet for online ordering is choosing FedEx or Purolator for shipping.
